Section 103 of Public Law (PL) 115-407, “Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018,” amends Title 38 of U.S. Code 3679 by adding a new paragraph that requires disapproval of training courses as of August 1, 2019 at any educational institution that does not have a policy allowing a person to attend or participate in a training course, in anticipation of the payment of the VA, provided that the person presents a certificate of eligibility for the study allowance under Chapters 31 or 33. Newman University is proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, which is for qualified veterans and dependents who wish to attend a private university. A student`s tuition and tuition fees may exceed the maximum benefit rate under the post-9/11 GI bill®. The Yellow Ribbon program is an agreement with the VA to cover additional costs. The VA will adjust Newman`s additional contribution dollar for dollar so that the student can visit Newman for little or no fee. You will be certified for all the terms for which you are enrolled between your start semester and the last semester you indicated on your intention form. If your last semester changes or you don`t want to be certified for a specific semester, informez-VACertify@du.edu as soon as possible. Please note that if you do not wish to be certified, you must inform VACertify@du.edu before the start of the term. Once the VA has made payments, it will not cancel a certification and create debt just to save on benefits.
